Visualise the man-made world
This was a large, £70m mixed-use regeneration scheme intended to transform and revitalise the heart of Addlestone town centre, which had the added complexity of integrating into the existing town. As the scheme was an ambitious plan, the client wanted to generate interest in the scheme from the commercial sector, alongside public approval at an early stage in the design process.
Objectives
- 01 Create content for a Public Exhibition
- 02 Explain the complex site in a clear, concise manner
- 03 Generate interest from potential commercial tenants
Our Approach
A lot of preliminary research and statistics were available to us so we recommended starting the presentation with some punchy facts and figures that would instantly resonate with potential retailers and investors. A strong brand was also already in place, so we complimented this with a clear and concise graphical representation of the overall development that explained the fundamentals of the scheme. As the design of the buildings was fixed, we recommended a full photo-realistic tour through the development from the view of the customer. We used our expertise to visualise the aspirational lifestyle of a vibrant shopping experience and a lively evening economy combined with an exciting place to live.
Outcome
Our journey around the development fully explained how the scheme integrated with the existing town centre by starting on a main street that was instantly recognisable to the public. We then focused on key shots that would engage with potential tenants and used generic branding that reflected target stores to show how their business could fit the scheme. Our flythrough was a key part of the Public Exhibition and planning was granted after the positive public response. The tour also helped secure the anchor tenant Premier Inn.
